The latest thoughtless dross to come out of Whitehall is the idea of forcing those on benefits into full time community work. Scrubbing graffiti off walls, picking up rubbish, sweeping streets etc. I always laugh at politicians ideas of productive work, which always involves cleaning up mess. Of course it has nothing to do with being productive and helping the unemployed get decent employment. It is all to do with punishment, punishment for being lazy primarily.
Of course no one has mentioned how much we are going to pay our newly found community cleansers. If you take the current Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) weekly income of £60.50, it is unlikely they will get anyone to work 37 hours a week for that, particularly when they have been languishing on the dole for some 2 years prior doing sod all. Of course they will have to give them at the very least minimum wage. Failure to do so, would of course smack of ‘do as I say, not as I do’, to current employers, for whom face considerable fines for not paying such a wage. So it will be interesting to note the governments view on this issue, which will no doubt be swayed by the all knowing and wise opinion of the great British public.
However, a question no one will ask during the milee of accusation about lazy dolites living offa my handouts and doing bugger all too boot, is. How much money is this really going to cost, us the tax payer? A fat lot more than it does having them do nothing of course. Who do you think will run the scheme, handing out the brooms, sponges and mops to the so called lazy and ineffective? Well fulltime civil servants of course. So eventually the government having created a wellfare state that is so enormous that even an average family earning £50,000 a year still gets tax credits, is finally going to start employing the unemployed.
Of course anything run by the government is doomed to high costs and virtually no effectiveness. Apart from them that are tasked with the administration of such a collossal project. Not to mention the meaniality of the job of cleaning stuff in public, which will of course serve only one purpose, that of the general masses feeling the lazy fuckers got what they deserved. I hardly see graffiti being stripped from the walls in any productive and expedient manner.
When will governments realise that people only ever become productive through incentive and incentive alone. The stick method never works, so imagining the streets to be cleaner than ever before is pure fantasy. The government knows this of course, they arnt this stupid, what do they care? As long as the general Joe blow on the street is happy that the lazy shites are getting a good kicking, they’ll still be voting for them huh? Well thats what theyre hoping. It really sickens me that a government can increase expenditure on an already over burdened tax payer that can barely pay for all the useless services that already exist and expect us to pay for yet more useless services.
It really is time that people should finally get the message that these useless tosspots called politicians know nothing or care little about the overal wealth and health of the individual. They only ever see things as collectives. We are all money makers for their fat lazy ineffective overbloated sense of purpose selves. They clearly have no wish to help the unemployed for whom they like to keep poor and dependent, as a means to seeking office and power.
